Remote Office Success Stories Read the Whole TotallyOne Success Story

Description: Totally One owns and operates a head office and three retail telecommunications stores in Southern Ontario. Before Evron, Totally One suffered from a weak technical infrastructure, including poor security and issues with their firewall and server.

Evron completely upgraded the hardware and software at both the Totally One head office and franchise stores, including the establishment of a point-to-point VPN (Virtual Private Network) which allowed retail stores to connect to the database at the head office.

Results:

  • Improved Customer Service & Efficiency in Retail Stores
  • Better Business Intelligence
  • System Capacity Doubled

Quote: “Evron has been an excellent and valuable partner for Totally One. Our business depends on a secure and dependable infrastructure and Evron has provided it.”
- Dina Arduini, President, Toally One

Client: A leading supplier of integrated circuits

Challenge: The company's head office is located in Toronto along with their databases and accounting software. However, they have recently expanded to California and that office needs access to the accounting system in order to handle various functions, most notably Order Entry and Purchase Order tracking.

Without Remote Access: The new office would have to implement their own network, including file server and accounting system and would have to run a regular synchronization process to ensure that data is the same in both locations. Upgrading to web-ready accounting software would be costly and include a time consuming learning curve. These options are expensive and in some cases limits activities.

Evron's Solution: Evron implemented a remote access solution that lets employees in the California office connect directly to the accounting system in Toronto through a dedicated ISDN line.

User Point Of View: Thanks to a fast and secure connection, the accounting system operates exactly the same way whether you're connecting to the server from down the hall in Toronto or across the continent in California. Workers continue to use the same software and processes as they always have, meaning no additional training or learning curve is required.

Corporate POV: Data integrity is protected within a single, centralized accounting system in Toronto. The new California office requires only workstations and a router - no fileserver, or network software needs to be purchased.

Technical and Security Notes:

Transfer only Keystrokes: Data is extremely secure because no data files are transferred and no programs are launched via the Internet. You send only keystrokes and mouse clicks while the files and programs remain on the remote server.

Encryption: Evron's web enablement applications use 128-bit "Triple Des" encryption standards, the same standards adhered to by banks and other high security institutions

Benefits:

Save Upfront and Maintenance costs: Eliminate the need to install and maintain a second network and accounting system

More robust system: Database is being updated in real time, eliminating the need to synchronize data

Backups Already in place: Data is protected within the Head Office's regular backup process

Continue to Use Legacy Applications: Evron can web enable your company's existing software, avoiding the cost and learning curve of upgrading to new "web ready" applications or rewriting custom programs.

Simple Infrastructure Requirements: Connect to web enabled applications through a variety of connection types: Internet, ISDN line, Virtual Private Network or dialup. Bandwidths as low as 20 KB are sufficient

Remote Access Applications:
Citrix Remote Access Software Citrix: Citrix allows employees to use their remote PC or wireless device as a window into the company network, using dial-in or Internet access, anytime, from anywhere.
