Tech Tips: Novell Groupwise - Filter incoming
Email
ISSUE
When I run the General Ledger Edit list I receive the following message:
"Gap between begin and previous end date"
SOLUTION
Groupwise allows you to create "Rules" for incoming messages. For example,
let's say you wanted all emails from john@doe.com and jane@doe.com to automatically
be moved to a folder called DOEMAIL. Here's how to do it:
Go to Tools -> Rules (This will open the Rules dialogue box)
Click New (This will open the New Rule dialogue box)
Beside "Rule Name" create a name for your rule (eg: DOERULE)
Under "When Event is" -> Select NEW ITEM
In "And Items Are" -> put a checkmark in the box beside RECEIVED
Under "Item Types" -> put a checkmark in the box beside MAIL
Click "Define Conditions" (This will open the Define Conditions dialogue
box)
In the drop down list, select From. Then in the space, type john@doe.com.
The box beside the name defaults to END. If you were only filtering for
one name, you would leave this. In this case, we will add Jane.
Click END and change it to OR.
In the drop down list, select From. Then in the space, type jane@doe.com.
This time leave the box beside as END.
Click OK (This will return you to the New Rule dialogue box)
Click "Add Action" at the bottom of the window and select "Move to Folder"
from the pop up menu. This will open the "Move Item to Folder Action"
Window. Select the folder DOEMAIL and then click "Move" (This will return
you to the New Rule dialogue box).
Your Rule is now complete. Select Save. This will return you to the Rules
dialogue box.
Your new rule, DOERULE should appear in the window with a checkmark beside
it. If it is not checked already, click in the box to add a checkmark.
Click Close.
The rule is now in effect. Watch for the next Doe Email.
