Message From Evron's President

The Virtues of Collaboration

When called upon to deliver enterprise wide solutions, no organization can do everything unless they are delivering a very narrow answer. Large companies such as IBM, HP, Cisco and Microsoft depend upon thousands of business partners to implement their products and solutions to the end users.

Evron, for example, is a member of TechSelect. This is a group of about 50 elite IT solution providers spread across Canada, who formed an alliance to support each other to provide national coverage of IT services. The benefit for Evron and the other members, is that we can provide local support anywhere in Canada. In addition, the pooled resources provide enhanced opportunities for members to raise their level of education, and better support their clients. This network also speaks with a louder voice when talking to major manufacturers like IBM, HP, Cisco, Microsoft and others.

This kind of relationship also exists in other professional organizations. For example, law firms and accounting firms often collaborate in alliances to broaden their geographical reach and gain access to specialized skill sets.

Strategic collaboration can also extend well beyond the legal, accounting and Computer professions. We at Evron have worked with clients to help them implement technologies to facilitate collaboration between organizations. We help build relationships that go far beyond one company buying products from another company. We consult on and deliver solutions that provide significant integration of systems where multiple organizations effectively act as one in delivery of a good or service.

Here is one example of a system we designed and implemented for one of our clients. Our client provides specific services to their customer’s end users. Work orders are electronically received by our client. Our client does the work which is controlled by, and the data captured in, our Field Service Software. The complete work order information is then electronically transferred into our client’s accounting system. The accounting system electronically sends an invoice to our client’s customer. This kind of collaboration reduces the overall cost of delivery while enhancing the quality of service.

Evron is able to deliver today’s technologies that allow smaller organizations to do things that were once capabilities restricted to only the largest companies.

Using E-Mail Effectively

Collaborating with Exchange Server and Outlook 2007

For many businesses, E-mail is one of the most critical communication tools to conduct business. With the changing speed of business, not only has the mail volume has increased exponentially, the type of information communicated via e-mail has evolved greatly.

It’s not just about sharing information with other people or pushing the “send” button. Today, employees look for rich, efficient access—to e-mail, calendars, attachments, contacts, and more—no matter where they are or what type of device they are using.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, along with Outlook 2007, has been designed specifically to meet these challenges and address the security and reliability needs, your company demands, the anywhere access your people want, and the operational efficiency the management needs.

With Exchange Server 2007, employees get anywhere access to their e-mail, voice mail, calendars, and contacts from a variety of clients and devices. This includes the ability to access and reply to your Outlook e-mails, modify contacts and calendars, stay productive in offline mode e.g. during flight when there is no access to internet, and easily synchronize with your e-mail server in office over internet when the connection is available, without any additional software or VPN.

Exchange Server 2007 and Office Outlook 2007 work in consort in allowing you to modify your email settings better. They include everything from setting distinct internal and external out-of-office messages, start and end times and turning out-of-office messages off automatically. New scheduling assistant helps automate time – consuming calendaring tasks,

But that’s just one aspect of better, smarter email. Since your data is growing at enormous rates, you need better searching tools to find what you need. Instant Search makes this possible with both programs, allowing you to find information in your Inbox – including attachments.

Exchange Server 2007 has active messaging protection that helps curb spam, incorporates anti-phishing capabilities, as well as having auto-encryption for outgoing email. Even Outlook 2007 has a new technology known as E-Mail Postmark, which applies a token to email messages that checks for reliability of the message.

Yet there’s one last piece to better collaboration with your email – mobility.

Since employees are, more often than not nowadays, circulating around with smart phones, it’s important for them to have access to their email on the road. Unified messaging is fundamental to a collaborative corporate environment, for it is making it easier for people to access the data they need without the hassles.

Thankfully, Exchange Server 2007 and Outlook 2007 have this ability as well. You can get your email, voice mail and even faxes all in the same place. Any Exchange ActiveSync technology-enabled mobile can take advantage of these tools Exchange Server 2007 and Outlook 2007 offers. Best of all, you can use a new technology integrated into these platforms called Outlook Voice Access, which allows you to dial into your Inbox using a touchtone phone and have messages read back to you.

While online messaging has been a nice advantage for many in the business world, the need for timely and collaborative approaches to business has never been more essential. You need the tools to make this happen quickly and efficiently.

We believe at Evron that what you get out of Exchange Server 2007 and Outlook 2007 is just this: an effective, reliable and improved approach to message-based communications.

What's On The Horizon For BusinessVision

In early May, I, along with four other Evron employees, attended the Sage Insights annual partner conference in Nashville. In late May I attended the 2009 Certified General Accountants Technology Symposium. Both conferences allowed me a glimpse into what is to come in the next twelve to eighteen months. The message was clear. Things are changing quickly, and the speed of change will only accelerate in the future.

So what is on the horizon for the BusinessVision user?

A great deal more is coming than I can include in this article. I will however, try to give you the highlights.

BusinessVision
Security has been enhanced in more than twenty areas. The changes will accommodate customers requests, as well as the greater security needed in the internet world.

Average days to pay calculation – Using a superior calculation method, the average days that it has taken a customer to pay you is shown. This can be reset to reflect recent payment patterns. This is extremely useful in these credit conscious times.

More payment options for both your customers, and for you to pay your vendors.

The enhanced import capabilities that were introduced to the general ledger module in version 7.2,have been extended to the account receivable, accounts payable, and the inventory module. The old utility has been replaced by a clean, easy to use interface.

Evron
Evron continues to add more modules to our popular BusinessVision compatible EV-Suite. Along side Easy-Receive, Easy-Inventory Labels, Easy-Configurator, and Easy-Pack we will soon be releasing other time saving programs.

The areas of computer printing and wireless communications are on the verge of an entire new generation of more efficient cost saving products. In the near future laser printing costs will be substantially reduced by a new quality of ink. New wireless phones and other communication devises are coming that will amaze us all.

I will have more for both Sage Insights 2009, and the 2009 Certified General Accountants Technology Symposium in my next article.
